SHE'S A LAMB has a terrifically mad, single minded unreliable narrator who knows beyond a doubt that her destiny is to be a musical theater star even though she is just an usher. Her path of self delusion is a wild ride.
Oh this sounds so interesting and also similar to a book Shruti and I did on the podcast last year called All's Well by Mona Awad! I think both Mona Awad books I have read, All's Well and Bunny, would fit under this obsession theme really well, too!
I read NORTH SUN by Ethan Rutherford last week, and it reminded of Moby-Dick. Multiple characters are consumed by different obsessions in that book, and there are whales!
I agree that ALL’S WELL fits the bill. And a lot of Shakespeare.
