Yes! I have heard Mandel was inspired by Cloud Atlas for Sea of Tranquility. I haven't read it yet though!

I loved each of these and it just a fun addition to have this multi-verse connecting them all. It felt almost like a nod to readers who would get it, like we had an inside joke of sorts.
